Description

The ’67 Mustang Borgeson Power Steering Conversion kits are a great solution for our Classic Mustangs. Borgeson’s kits have been an industry standard for decades now and are a tried and proven solution to poor performing and often leaking factory power steering systems, as well as a good upgrade to manual steering cars.

We’ve installed a number of these kits in our shop over the years and have grown fond of the performance to cost ratio as well as the straight forward installation. We believe that the Borgeson kits find a nice middle-ground in terms of cost vs performance that fill that niche for a power steering upgrade without moving to a costly power steering rack.

HOW TO CHOOSE THE KIT FOR YOU:

IMPORTANT: 1967 Mustangs could’ve been equipped with either a 1″ Pitman Arm Shaft or a 1-1/8″ Pitman Arm Shaft. Typically, early 67’s had a 1″ Pitman Arm Shaft and the later 67’s had the 1-1/8″ Pitman Arm Shaft. You will need to measure the diameter of your Pitman Arm Shaft in order to obtain accurate information for your application. Once confirmed, select the appropriate shaft diameter from the drop down menu.

  1. Manual Centrelink vs Factory Power Steering

Borgeson Power Steering Kits utilize the Manual Steering Centrelink found on your classic Mustang, or a drag link adapter.

  • If your car has original manual steering and your equipment is in good working condition and you do not need a Centrelink, select the “W/ Factory Manual Steering Centrelink” option. This option will utilize the manual steering link you already have and will NOT include a new one.
  • If your car has original Power Steering, you will need to convert it to the Manual Steering Centrelink. In this case, select the “W/ Factory Power Steering” option. Your kit will now include the necessary manual drag link adapter to convert your factory power steering.
  • If your car currently has no steering components equipped, you will need a Manual Steering Centrelink. In this case, select the “W/ Factory Power Steering” option. Your kit will now include the necessary manual centrelink.

  1. Power Steering Pump
  • Determine if you would like to use the GM Saginaw style power steering pump with your kit (recommended by Borgeson). If you do not have a power steering pump and would like to use ours, select “Yes”. Select “No” if you will be supplying your own power steering pump. Selecting this option will add a power steering pump & hose kit to your order.

  1. Engine Type:
  • Please determine which engine you have equipped. This is especially important if you selected “Yes” on the power steering pump as this will determine your power steering pump bracket.

NOTES:

**Borgeson power steering boxes may not work with some headers.**

**Will NOT work with factory z-bar clutch linkage. Must use Borgeson’s z-bar if you are using the factory clutch linkage.**
